Kia Cerato: Koup, Sedan and Now Hatchback

(Vocus) October 27, 2010

As well as its all-new body shape, the new Cerato 5-door model introduces styling, equipment, refinement and technical improvements, which will also feature on the 2011 Cerato sedan.

Both models will see the EURO IV compliant Theta II, 2.0-L DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine matched to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. When in sport mode the auto provides drivers of the SLi sedan and hatchback with fingertip control through steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

“The new Cerato range refresh and introduction of the hatchback to the family will certainly help broaden our market appeal in the small passenger segment,” said Kia Motors Australia CEO and President, Mr. MK Kim.

“The latest Schreyer design influence and our next generation in Kia engineering and dynamics will provide our dealer network with a competent line up in the small passenger vehicle market.”

Engineers have also significantly reduced the range’s noise, vibration harshness by applying foam to the A, B and C pillars and by adding other noise dampening features throughout the vehicles.

Most visible from the outside of the sedan and hatch is the new radiator grille and fog lamp / air intake grille. All three models will also receive side mirrors with LED integrated indicators. The all new 5-door hatch also comes standard with 17-inch ‘double five spoke design’ alloy wheels.

From the inside the dash and centre console have received a smart upgrade. A leather ‘boot-type’ gear lever gaiter has been fitted, together with chrome edge trim around the twin cup holders and the centre console has a new premium style which provides a contrast to the one tone black dash.

Multi media has received a boost with the introduction of fully integrated Bluetooth hands-free in all 5-door models and the Si and SLi spec sedan models.

The Cerato range is equipped as standard with dual SRS front airbags; side front SRS airbags and full-length curtain SRS airbags; active headrests and seatbelt pre-tensioners for front seats; and 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) and Brake Assist.

The entire range comes standard with ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with TCS (Traction Control System). ABS allows drivers to maintain steering response and directional control even when braking heavily, while EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) adjusts the force applied to individual axles.

Amica Insurance Offers Family-Friendly Tips For a Safe and Fun Halloween

ReleaseDateline”>Lincoln, RI (Vocus) October 27, 2010

Trick-or-treaters are going to fill the streets this weekend, so Amica Insurance reminds everyone to take extra care to keep children safe this Halloween.

“Halloween is a fun night for families, but it can be especially dangerous for children in costumes,” said Lisa Melton, an assistant vice president with Amica Insurance. “Motorists and homeowners should use caution to make sure children are safe.”

Amica offers the following tips:

Discuss Halloween safety in advance with your children.
Choose a costume that fits properly. Loose-fitting clothing can cause a child to trip and fall.
Make sure your child’s costume has reflectors and is flame-resistant.
Give your child a flashlight to carry.
Make sure a responsible adult accompanies your child while trick-or-treating.

“Besides keeping your child safe, it is also important to be a safe driver on Halloween,” Melton said. “The roads will be filled with children and families, so please be careful if you are driving while children are trick-or-treating.”

Most children go trick-or-treating between 4 and 8 p.m., so be extra vigilant during that time period – especially in residential areas, where children will be darting back and forth across the streets. Also take care when passing parked cars, as children may be getting in or out of the vehicles.

It is also important to keep your home safe for trick-or-treaters, Melton noted. Remember to:

Keep doors, stairs and entryways clear of excess decorations.
Remove any obstacles that could cause people to trip.
    Use candles with caution.
Keep decorations away from all heating sources.

“Being prepared and cautious on Halloween will result in an enjoyable and safe Halloween for everyone,” Melton said.
